Learning Maya

First attempt in maya with nurBs and fur(2000)

and few tips based on this work
* If we are using poly take care on good UVs

* We can have sep.UV set only for fur

*Bake the properties to render faster-general

*Maintain the caches properly-general

* Play with translucence for the final look

* Use the artisan tools as much as possible

and this one is the first attempt with subD(2000)

*from Alais Maya 4 to Autodesk 2009
the only changes with subD are
calculation on this tool and rendering
speed is very much improved .

*very much shoots for chtr.but widely
used for sets and porps modeling

*Resolution independent like nurBs

*Has sculpting support but turned the
vertex visibility and paint on it!!!!!!

*Use soft modication tool for quicker result

* Use the poly uv tool -subD not good

we used at one commercial to get the
clay surface finish

nice to remember and very good to share

*Any object can be brought into Ecco system if it is save as Vue obj(vob)

*where ever quality boost options are there play very carefully
(the above image took arnd.1hr to render)

and would like to continue my journey with Vue6 and will be sharing my exp .

Translucent Nature

Originally uploaded by mmuralirajan

Translucence Property:Simulates the way light diffusely penetrates through translucent objects. This means that when light shines on one side of the object, the other side is partially illuminated. This can be used for effects such as clouds, fur, hair, marble, jade, wax, paper, leaves, etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nature is the TRUE creator and we 3D artists
are trying to be good at our attempts to create close to the truth(Nature).
In Maya or any 3D package we can achieve this translucence results with light(placement is impotent) and shader properties.

Wanna get caught into MentalRays....

It is very much necessary to have strong hand with
Mental Ray or V Ray to get involved with Realistic outputs
in CG particularly forVfx projects. There are so many links
on the net but these links are
very useful to spend time to improve lot

hope this links will help you lot Mr.Josh-:)

Looking for Mesh files or Scene files to test and improve your Rendering Skills?

Lighting Challenge scene are free
for any artist to download and light.
Use whatever 3D software you want
to light and render the scene.

Pretty and handsome Lights

These few stills are lit by Maya native lights
(nowadays this is become traditional lights
because of the plug ins)

used raytraced shadows and we can see the raytraced
results interactively with mental ray IPR !!! and back
to Maya's native renderer to render the final result.

and see u soon

Get caught into MentalRays....

OOoo my God I can't go away from the colors
thank God
for the eyes and wonderful creations

1.dgs shader is very good for all the metallic surface finish
but got to go very hard with bump!!
(as it's own photon shader for better caustics)

2.dielectric shader is too good for solid but transparent and
semi transparent again bump mapping requires some
extra efforts !!
(as it's own photon shader for better caustics)

3.dOf and round corner are supporting well to get some better results

4.car paint phen.and even this one too needs the efforts (little)to get bump!!

all those images took arnd.14mnts to render (512\512)
after optimization.

Here is the pFx and raytraced output work little more to
save render time when ever possible, but can't match on
some areas with MR.

(can get better result with layer render plus post production)
and the journey continues..................................................................................

3D animation,straight away !!!

we all missed the wonderful start with 2D animation(missed to understand the basics of animation)

we all only know to set key or simply move ,rotate and deform ...but that's not enough..
In this seq. it was very clear

that the first one------------------------------- was very flat and not at all interesting!!
and the second one with AP is
very interesting ,lively and kind of feeling is there …
but let's not force the APs too much(once we learnt) and all the best.

posing facial expressions

Hi Murugan,
This one is for you...don't be tensed and worried!! like this guys

or
Mr.Keith is also giving vts http://www.klangoanimation.com/store/VTS_SubscriptionPlans.html
but no interactions !!still lot more things about animation ++ can be explored, learned and etc.

and other one is Mr.Jason Ryan
Mr.Jason' VTs at http://www.jasonryananimation.com/
(lot more to learn and "learning is the never ending story")
yet practice only make us like skilled artist.

Animation = posing and timing

Hai pals...am back!!

and wishing you "All the best for all your attempts".

At this post i would love to share my views on rig(ging)s and posing .

I am trying out some rigs. from http://www.11secondclub.com/resources/
Understanding the controls are big problems!? and we have to very familiar with that controls.
(spend some time to understand the actor and their capabilities)
unfortunately we can’t standardize these due to many factors involved , many different minds
and ect.,also depends on the story to act/perform .
The rigger has to adapt their Skills+ R&D.(It is possible In production pipeline ) sometimes
i too feel little hesitation to try when comparing to animate.
I tried few interesting poses which I admire from the acting greatness Thiru.SivajiGanesan
and many others((long list) (golden age of Tamil Cinema Industry ))with "Max for Maya" rig
a.here is the thumbnail sketch(before posing)
b.Poesed at Maya using Max
c.Lets check out the Silhouettes
I think those poses are telling the story, i am personally happy with my attempts and i really got what i wannted.
Thanks keith for his VTS ( am getting stronger and stronger)Stick Figure Fundamentals
(also check it out the Keith's stuff and tutorials here)

"Lets take all the good once from this world", yours loving Murali
